The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has partnered with CHS Group to create association focused education alongside the Conference and Hospitality Show 2017 – being held in Leeds on Tuesday 4th April.

ABPCO’s members are invited to attend a Round Table on Innovation facilitated by Professor Rhodri Thomas, who will discuss “absorptive capacity” and give a short presentation on recently published research conducted in the meetings industry. This will be a lively round table discussion about how individual organisations can embrace innovation and take a more innovative approach.

Heather Lishman, association director, ABPCO said

Innovation is a key factor in everything that we do. It’s so important to bring innovation into our interactions with clients, fellow team members and suppliers to stay ahead of the curve in an ever increasingly competitive environment

Emma Cartmell, CEO, CHS Group said

We have partnered with ABPCO to better understand the needs of their members and to ensure the show delivers. The Round Table debate is part of a comprehensive VIP package for their PCO members to ensure they get the very most out of the show experience

Professor Rhodri Thomas is Dean of the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Leeds Beckett University. Until recently, he was a Board member of ABPCO. ‘Absorptive capacity’ is one of the most prominent ideas to emerge in management studies over the past two decades.  Research suggests that an ability to acquire and use knowledge from a diverse range of external networks leads to greater innovation and competitive advantage.

The Round Table is open to ABPCO members and will be hosted by Well Met Conferences, Leeds at the Rose Bowl. The event is also part of a VIP package for PCO members that includes complimentary accommodation, time at CHS to tour the show floor and network with peers and the option of attending a fam trip showcasing the Leeds hotels and venues that specifically lend themselves to association events.  ABPCO members wishing to register can go to: http://www.chs17.co.uk/

CHS 2017 will take place on Tuesday 4th April at the first direct arena, Leeds.   Doors open at 9.00am

More About ABPCO

The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) is a dedicated industry association representing professional conference organisers. ABPCO is dedicated to helping individuals and organisations bring a strong sense of professionalism to their working practice by harnessing and sharing their collective skills, knowledge and experience in the meetings industry.

Membership is open to professional conference organisers, suppliers, associates and destinations who clearly demonstrate the skills, knowledge and experience required to plan and organise major UK and international conferences. ABPCO is one of very few UK conference and event industry associations to select Full and Associate Members based on peer assessment.

Education plays an integral part of ABPCO’s strategy and members are invited to participate in all education events where subjects of common interest are discussed. These sessions give members an opportunity to share recent experiences and formulate a collective view on common challenges.
