Technology experts will include Tim Groot, CEO and co-founder of Grip, talking about How AI and other extreme technology are disrupting the events industry, Maarten Vanneste, CEO of Meeting Design Institute, will advise on an effective use of technology for digital meetings in healthcare and Matthew Howard, Senior Business Development of Event Management Software, will be forecasting the future of event technology.
20-minute campfire sessions taking place on the Learning Carousel will continue the focus on technology and will include; Abi Cannons of Slido advising how to Get more from your interaction tech: top-tips for audience engagement, Chris Norman of Vision Live Events will explain how Getting the technical design of your meeting right is key to audience engagement, Querine Lap of NetworkTables will advise on how to increase sponsorship in sales at events and Joonas Ahola of MeetingPackage.com will discuss what are the expectations when booking meeting and event spaces online?
The Meetings Show 2018 will also celebrate the Year of the Woman with Tea Colaianni, Chair of Women in Hospitality 2020 (WiH2020), who will focus on the role that women play within the events industry by launching the new findings on Diversity in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure, conducted with PwC, Korn Ferry and Oxford Brookes University.
Dr Kate Dashper from Leeds Beckett University will further host a session called, Celebrating the Year of the Woman, bringing together a panel to discuss everything from equal pay, to work/life balance and the percentage of women in positions of leadership. The panel includes Katie Ramsay from Marriott International, Hannah Kelly from BCDME and Charlotte Boaden from Tribal and will take place on Wednesday 27 June from 13:50 – 14:50 in the Pillar Hall.
We caught up with Kate ahead of the show who told us “the events industry is very female dominated in numerical terms, if not in leadership, so the Year of the Woman session is a great opportunity to celebrate all the fantastic women we have in the industry.”
“The session will be positive and hopefully inspiring, as women at different stages in their events career will share insights from their own professional journeys and offer suggestions and advice to the audience.”
Other speakers at the show include Steve Gaskin, a former senior Scotland Yard Investigator for 25 years, who worked in London on the serious crimes unit and rose to the rank of Detective Chief Inspector. His session will focus on The Events Industry and European Terrorism – what are the dangers? which aims to uncover how prepared the industry is to cope with potential threats.
