St. George’s Park exhibited at our recent flagship event, Conference & Hospitality Show and have some great news to share with us on their fifth birthday.
Burton upon Trent’s national football centre, St. George’s Park, today announces that it has hosted 7,102 events in its first five years – an average of more than three each day. The £105million venue, which opened its gates in 2012, has posted year-on-year record results for its meetings, incentives, conference and events (MICE) since launching.
Home to England’s 28 national teams, the 330-acre site combines elite sport with elite business – a strength it continues to build on by hosting some of the world’s biggest brands, including Nike, BT, Premier League, Continental, Molson Coors and Vauxhall, as well as smaller brands across the UK – with many rebooking future events.
The venue boasts 13 outdoor football pitches, a full size indoor 3G pitch, cutting-edge rehabilitation and sports science areas and an Outdoor Leadership Centre – making it a world-class sporting destination. Event organisers also benefit from its flagship Hilton hotel, featuring a health club, spa, restaurant and bar lounge, meeting rooms and a versatile function suite suitable for conferences, exhibitions and banqueting.
The Hilton’s dedicated event management service also offers clients their very own dedicated event coordinator, renowned technical support – including state-of-the-art projection equipment and a high-speed fibre broadband mast on site – enabling visitors to access the internet wherever they go.
Following the Park’s fifth birthday, Holly Murdoch, General Manager at St. George’s Park, said:
“These figures are great news for St. George’s Park, confirming our unique standing and appeal to conference and events organisers across the UK and beyond. What sets us apart is the fact that not only do we offer inspirational sporting facilities used by some of the world’s top sporting stars, but also pair this with a high-quality events offering – all in a rural location that can be tailored to every organisers’ needs.
“It is this mix of services and facilities that has attracted, and continues to attract, a range of organisations to St. George’s Park, which all gain an unrivalled experience. In the coming year, we’ve got a number of exciting developments planned that will boost this offering further, including the launch of a new outdoor laser quest facility at our Outdoor Leadership Centre. We look forward to the number of visitors increasing throughout 2018 and beyond.”
In recent months, St. George’s Park’s appeal has been further recognised, with it being shortlisted for the UK’s National Venue Awards for ‘Best Sporting Venue for Events’ and the Sports Business Awards for ‘Best Non-Match Day Use of Venue’. It has also won a place on the Midland’s inaugural Innovation 50 index – a campaign celebrating the 50 most innovative businesses in the region, and the on-site Hilton hotel has also received a string of Hilton Awards of Excellence since opening.
